Sleep Disorders
According to the American Sleep Disorders Association, sleep disorders
cause 25 million Americans to suffer with chronic sleep deprivation. Another 5 million people endure serious sleep disorders due to shift
work, and over one million more suffer from narcolepsy. Far and away the most prominent of these sleep disorders is obstructive sleep apnea
(OSA), which occurs in over 20 million Americans. According to the latest
government reports, over 100 million Americans complain of some sleep disorder problem Not only do sleep disorders influence mortality
rates, they also have an enormous impact on the quality of life.
With the increasing national awareness of sleep disorders has also come a growing need for sleep studies and formal sleep disorders centers. However, setting up a sleep study program can be a costly and problem-filled area for administrators.
Interstate-pds will provide all the necessary components needed for a successful and profitable sleep center for your facility. The two most
important of these are high quality equipment and experience personnel. We will also include billing advice and formulation of customized
policies and procedures to ensure that the sleep studies are performed in accordance with the standards set by the American Sleep Disorders
Association. Selecting equipment is one of the most difficult decisions involved in setting up a new program, especially when different types of
sleep studies will be required. Interstate-pds incorporates state of the art equipment in all its test procedures. We are able to provide
your facility with a full spectrum of equipment to meet all of your
patients sleep study needs.

Full Polysomnograms
We provide an on-site attending technician for up to 10 to set-up and monitor
the entire test procedure. The technician will provide a verbal report to the
referring physician within 24 hours. In the event of any
severe abnormalities, the physician will be notified immediately. The technician
does a complete scoring and provides a written report within 72 hours. We also
have the ability to perform a full-attended polysomnogram on an in-home basis.
Interstate-pds uses one of the most technologically advanced polysomnographic
systems available today, Healthdyne Technologies' ALICE 3R system, ALICE 4R
system and Night Watch TM. These systems record and can concurrently display up
to 28 channels of waveform data including electroencephalography (EEG),
electromyography (EMG), and electroculography (EOG). The technician can examine
incoming data and
adjust individual channel amplitude during the study. These systems also include
a feature that allows the clinician to review previously recorded date. The
ALICE 3 also utilizes tow separate and unique programs to meet the collection
needs of adult data.

Respiratory Somnograms
In cases where screening is appropriate, Interstate-pds will provide in-home respiratory somnograms, or where the patient cannot readily be
moved, bedside in-patient respiratory somnograms.
Interstate-pds uses Intercare Technologies' SAMTM system, a 6 channel sleep apnea monitor for screening suspected sleep apnea patients
(especially in cases where there are backlogs) and also to determine the
effectiveness of CPAP and post surgical follow-up of sleep apnea patients. The channels include: body position, snoring sounds,
respiratory effort, respiratory airflow, heart rate, and oxygen saturation.

CPAP Titration
Interstate-pds technicians are fully registered and trained to perform CPAP
titration and will provide CPAP equipment and training to patients. Interstate-pds
used Healthdyne's Tranquility Quest TM, one of the best CPAP devices on the
market today. For people who need to use CPAP every night, this device is ideal
since it is small enough to fit easily on a nightstand and light enough to carry
on a trip. It is not only compact and lightweight, but also durable.
